In June, Chastity Bono, daughter of entertainers Sonny and Cher, shocked the entertainment world by announcing that she was becoming a he.

Now, in his first interview, Chaz Bono, as he now calls himself, speaks to “Entertainment Tonight’s” Mary Hart about his transformation, his famous family and the struggle he’s gone through since childhood.

“I have to tell you that I was really quite moved with my time with Chaz. His honesty, thoughtfulness and warmth not only impressed me, but it helped me understand this very serious choice he’s made,” Hart told Early Show co-anchor Harry Smith.

According to Bono, the most difficult step he had to take was, “finding the courage not to worry about what other people would think of me so much.”

America first met Bono on “The Sonny and Cher Show” as an adorable, little blonde girl with pig tails.

Now 40 years old, and almost 15 years since coming out as gay, he is beginning to live life as he wanted to for a long time, as a man. He says the complete transformation will take four or five years and involves surgery and hormone therapy.

Along with a gender reassignment surgery comes facial hair.

“I shave about once a week now,” Bono told Hart. “So it’s not, certainly not thick. It kind of started to come in like peach fuzz,” which he said was a thrill to experience.

The hormones have dramatically changed Bono’s voice, which was a slight adjustment for him.

“It does it in stages, so, no. I’m literally going through puberty,” he said.

According to an source close to reality tv mom, Kate Gosselin, has been made a $400,000 offer from Playboy and Hugh Heffner. “Hugh sent her a letter, but Kate was totally mortified and just threw it away,” the source told Star magazine. “She didn’t think it was appropriate because of the children.”

Kate is “proud of the way she looks.”

It’s been a tough week for Jon, who on Tuesday was ordered to return $180,000 of the $230,000 that Kate has alleged he withdrew from one of their joint bank accounts in violation of an arbitrator’s previous order that they not withdraw any funds without the other’s approval.

While Jon has since claimed he plans to return the money, he will face contempt charges if he fails to do so by October 26.

In addition, Stephanie Santoro — who previously alleged to have an affair with Jon during the month she served as a part-time nanny for his eight kids — recently claimed that Jon would “brag” to her about how he had “hacked” into Kate’s emails, phone records and online banking and planned to “use it against her.”

Jon has since denied the allegation while Kate’s lawyers are “carefully considering” legal options.

Police in Fort Collins, Colorado are desperately attempting to save a 6-year-old boy who floated away in a 20-foot homemade balloon. Officials are figuring out how to remove the boy, stranded in the sky, without “ripping the balloon to shreds.”The child reportedly crawled into his parent’s experimental balloon, untied it, and took off earlier this morning. As of right now the balloon is about 40 miles North of Denver, but the aircraft was built to go higher. It’s terrifying and horrible, and our hearts go out to the little boy. Let’s hope the authorities figure something out.

UPDATE: The National Guard is involved and the balloon has landed, story developing. MSNBC is reporting on the live stream that authorities have not found a body inside the balloon. The child has been identified as Falcon Heene. No one is sure if he has fallen out, or if Falcon was even in the balloon from the beginning. The boy went missing this morning and hasn’t been seen. His brother was the one who reported that Falcon was inside the small basket of the balloon.
